Q. 1) I have been having unintentional thoughts of divorce, which are happening without my will and intention. I have been doing a lot of zikhr and at one point I was reading ayat ul kursi and without me realising, a THOUGHT came into my head – It was along the lines if I read Ayat Ul Kursi then divorce will take place. It happened so fast and without thinking about it at that moment I panicked and got upset and I honestly thought that I had verbally said this, but later on I realised I didn’t. I felt this happened due to panic, which lead to confusion.
So because I panicked and without thinking about it I honestly thought that I had verbally said this, I thought I’d quickly straight away go and speak to a maulana and explain the situation. When I spoke to the maulana I was still in the frame of mind at that moment in time that I had verbally said this – when really later I realised it was an unintentional THOUGHT that had come into my mind (which I realised after I spoke to the maulana).
I told the maulana that when I was reading Ayat-ul-Kursi, in the middle of it I said if I read Ayat Ul Kursi then divorce will take place. But after I spoke to the maulana and some careful thinking, I realised it was a THOUGHT and I didn’t say it. But because I panicked about it and at that moment in time I honestly thought that I had verbally said it, when really I hadn’t.
Now because due to panic and not thinking properly at that moment, I told the Maulana that I said this, but really AFTER I had spoken to the Maulana and careful thinking and recapping I realised I didn’t say it and it was a THOUGHT, which I panicked about and got confused. Just because I told the Maulana I said it would that count as divorce if I read Ayat Ul Kursi?
Please take in consideration, after I spoke to the Maulana and some careful thinking and recapping, I realised it was a THOUGHT and I didn’t say it. But because it happened so fast and I panicked I thought I said it.
2) If the tongue is moving but the lips are not moving/still or the lips are closed and there is no verbal speech, OR if muttering/slurping comes out and there is no real hearable or verbal speech, would that count as divorce?
A. In the first case mentioned, your recitation of Ayatul Kursi will not bring about a divorce. In the second query, all which you have asked about would not count as a divorce, nor would they bring about a divorce.
And Allah knows best.
