Recording videos on digital camera.
Q. Is it permissible to record videos of people and animals on a digital camera, or does the same prohibition as taking photographs apply?
A. If the digital camera captures pictures and deemed to be photography, then the same ruling will apply. However, if it is a video camera which retains the movements of the people and animals then it will not be treated as photography.
In this case, whatever is permissible for you to view as a Muslim, it will also be permissible to capture on the video and whatever is impermissible for you to view as a Muslim it would be impermissible to capture on the video.
