Punishment for suicide.
Q. There is a hadith that says if a person kills himself he goes to hell. Is it forever? Will smoking fall into the category of suicide if a person dies due to cancer?
A. The scholars of the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaat have stated that a believer who commits suicide will definitely punish in hell for his sins, however, he will eventually be taken out on account of his Imaan. Hence, he will not remain in Hell forever.
Smoking does not fall in the category of suicide if a person dies from cancer due to it.
