Is it permissible for men to wear any metal other than silver?

Assalaamu Alaikum,

I would like to purchase a ring for my fiance for our wedding but I’m hearing mixed views about the type of jewellery the men in    islam can wear. From my knowledge I believe that it’s only silver the men can wear.

However, can you please update me further as to whether is it only silver like with diamonds/stones on it and others like titanium, platinum, white gold, etc.

Thank you in advance as I look forward to an early response.

Wa Alaikum Assalaam,

الجواب و بالله التوفيق

The accepted view held by the Fuqaha (Jurists of Islam) is that only silver is permissible for men. This can be with diamonds and stones since these are permissible for men. As for other metals like titanium, platinum, white gold etc., these are not allowed for men as stated by the Fuqaha.

And Allah Knows Best.
