It is indeed alarming, rather disgusting to know that such derogatory remarks and fabricated statements could be made by one who considers himself to be a Muslim.

The utterances which were recently made on an Islamic channel by its host against Maulana Sheraz, Imam of the Nur-e-Islam Mosque and teacher at the Darul Uloom, were simply meant to degrade and humiliate our respected Maulana.

Beyond the shadow of doubt, the learnt Imam is free from the fabricated lies and allegations which were launched against him on the said programme.

Maulana Sheraz has been with us at the Darul Uloom for over 16 years now. During this long period, we have known him to be a very honest, trustworthy and scrupulous person. Through Allah’s grace and kindness, and through the sincere commitment and dedication to the service of Islam, our esteemed brother has grown to become a well respected and admired leader in the Muslim community. Today, Maulana Sheraz stands as an upright, respectable, hardworking individual who is innocent of the vehement charges and derogatory comments that were made against him.

We at the Darul Uloom and The Islamic Network, stand in defence of the inculpable character of our respected brother, Maulana Sheraz, and we view the statements levied against him to be nothing but false allegations and slanders. As Muslims, we consider it our binding duty to protect the honour and dignity of our Muslim brother, especially when such calumnies and malicious gossips have been made against him.

The Noble Messenger of Allah (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is reported to have said, ‘There is no Muslim who helps another Muslim when his dignity is being abused and his respect is being violated, except that Allah will help him at a time when he needs His (Allah’s) help. And there is no Muslim who forsakes another Muslim when his respect is being violated, except that Allah will forsake him at a time when he needs His (Allah’s) help’. (Ahmad)
