Dua after recitation of Quran.

Question:

The site www.trinimuslims.com raised a point that the Dua after recitation of Quraan (Sudakullah…) is not from the Sunnah and should not be practiced. They quoted different views and based their decisions on such. Is this also the view of the Hanafi school of thought?

Answer:

The words “Sadaqallahul Azeem” means Allah, The Great has spoken the truth. Although it is not established from the statement of the Prophet (SAW), it is permissible to recite after the completion of the recitation of the Quraan since the meaning is good. This however should not be understood to be binding upon a person, nor should it be understood to be a requirement of the Adab (Etiquette) of Quraanic recitation. According to the Fuqaha there is no such principle which states that ‘if a thing is not from the Sunnah then it cannot be practised’.
