Can I visit family/friends who celebrate Divali?
Asalamu alaykum.
Is it permissible for someone to visit a friend on divali day even though they are not partaking in the events of that day? And if it is not permissible can I ask why?

The entire Divali Celebration and all that is connected to it is Shirk which is out rightly condemned in Islam. As, Muslims, we must not be part of, or visit such festivities and religious celebrations that are connected to Shirk.
