or we can say some people pronounce (ولاالضالین) with” ظ” sound and some people pronounce the same with “د” sound?
Dear Mufti Sahib, What is the correct pronunciation of the “ض” in Arabic Dialect ?

Answer:

Wa Alaikum As Salaam,

The letter ‘ض’ has its own unique way of pronunciation. Once a person follows the rule of Tajweed regarding this letter, then he will be able to pronounce it right.

The manner of pronouncing ‘ض’ is done by one side of the tongue touching the upper back teeth (molars and pre-molars). While following this rule of pronunciation, a person will be able to do it proper.

The ‘ض’ has its own ‘sound’ which does not sound like a ‘ظ’ or a ‘ د’. The closest transliteration that may be used for it is ‘waladh- dhaaّlleen’.

And Allah knows best,
Mufti Waseem Khan
