Pearls of The Blessed Messenger (7)

mhPearls from the blessed Messenger of Allah

Abu Hurairah (رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ) narrates that a man said to the Prophet (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ)  : Give me some advice. The Prophet (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) said: ‘Do not become angry’. The man asked the Prophet for his advice again and again and the Prophet (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) said: ‘Do not become angry’.

Anger is one of the qualities that if not controlled, it can lead someone to do some of the most regretful things in his life. Some of the scholars explain anger as being the insinuation of Shaytan that takes man from his ability to think level and straight, thus he regretfully say and do things.

Some of the cures for anger is as follows:

(1)   The knowledge of knowing that everything is from Allah and He’s always in control. He has placed us in this circumstance to test us.

(2)   Contemplate about the greatness of Allah, yet, his mercy and compassion exceeds his anger. How many times the commandments of Allah are openly perpetrated, yet, mankind move freely on the face of the earth.

(3)   Seeking refuge with Allah from Shaytan the accursed

(4)   Make wudu, as water cools the anger burning within us.

(5)   Change our physical posture to a more controlled one. If one is walking then sit, if he’s sitting then lie down.

(6)   Change the topic of that thing that initially ignited the anger or move away from the place where it started.

Many cases of divorce occur in our society today because of anger. A husband, out of rage divorces his wife and sadly to say, not once by three times on account of anger.

Likewise many families, organisations and even Jamaats are broken up on account of the anger expressed by people.

In another narration, Abu Hurairah (رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ)  has narrated that the Prophet (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ)  said: The strongest amongst you is not the strongest fighter and wrestler, rather it’s the one who can control himself at the time of anger.
